I am excited to begin another school year, my second year in 5th grade, fifth year at Williams Elementary, and seventh year of teaching overall. I am originally from Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh (YES, I am a huge Pittsburgh sports fan!). I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Grove City College in 2003. This past summer, I attained my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, and I will soon be pursuing a career in elementary administration. You will find me teaching Language Arts and Social Studies classes this year to half of the fifth grade population. I am looking forward to a great year, one that is sure to be filled with fun, laughter, and learning, as each student rises to reach his or her potential. Parents, thank you for the constant support of your child's education!

Class Announcements Can Your Student Beat Mr. Cooper???Has your student logged on to Study Island lately? With the SOL tests beginning this week, it's a great time to STUDY! See if your student can take over Mr. Cooper's spot on the leader board. This week's topics are Plot and Conflict in Reading and Perimeter, Area, and Volume in Math. Choose 10 questions on Game Mode, with the game of the week being the Penalty Kick Game. Good luck and happy studying!
Reading ConnectionHave you taken the opportunity to check out the "Reading Connection" on our school's main website? This is an excellent publication that gives you ideas for making reading even more enjoyable for your student. Just click on the "Resources" tab on the left side of this page. Then click on "Reading Connection". You're going to love what it has to share!
Open Library NightPlease take the time to bring your student out to our school's Open Library Night, held on the first and third Thursday of each month from 5-7pm. Students that attend will have the opportunity to spend time reading with their family, take Reading Counts quizzes, and even check out TWO extra books! This is a great way for you to encourage a stronger education for your child.

Class Links  Have some fun!This site includes a large number of educational games. Having fun while learning is always a goal! Learning GamesCheck out this website for a ton of educational games! Make sure to play the vocabulary, U.S. Geography, and math games, since they will allow you to practice what you've learned in school this year. Enjoy! Study IslandStudents will receive a username and password to log in to this site and practice their skills for the SOL tests. Students can even compete with others in the school or county to earn a high score! Voyager MathStudents have their own username and password to play these math games online.
